This is my 6th Britax seat for 2 kids. I have been wanting to order a Frontier ever since they came out but the reasonable budgeting person decided to wait until our two Boulevards had expired. That happened to coincide with the release of this newer model of the Frontier. It seems really solid and safe like all Britax Seats. I did not like the fabric choices but went ahead with the Onyx choice even though it is a warm fabric ( we had this fabric in 3 other seats and my kids were so hot in it!) I plan to buy an after market seat cover as soon as I can find one in a nice comfortable cotton fabric.

I have had the seat installed in my car now for 3 weeks and here are my pet peeves about it:

1)The belly pad is very loose and comes off every time my son gets out of the car. I know it is just a matter of time before he jumps out and I forget to look and then we won't have a belly pad for his seat any longer.
2)I like the convenience of the pads being able to be removed easily without uninstalling it but the cover comes off too easily. My 5 year old has popped it off several times in the 3 weeks we have had it. It is driving me nuts!!
3) He has complained that the seat hurts his back. I am not sure why. I felt it and cannot figure out what part is hurting him but something is - and he never complained about his Boulevard.

I was going to order one of these for my 9 year old who still sits in a high back booster but based on my experiences with it I think I will skip the expense and will just get another Parkway for her that my 5 year old can share on occasion. I like this seat don't get me wrong but for the price I expect it to not be so quirky and don't like that I will have to spend probably another $70 or so to get an aftermarket covered for it but my baby is worth having the safest feeling seat out there!

We were involved in a highway accident. Something happened to the tire, I lost control of the car at 70 MPH, we did a 180 and slammed into the concrete barrier (on the rear side, where my kids were). I have three kids, my two daughters were on the side that got hit. My 22 month old daughter is in this carseat, and my 3-year-old in the older model boulevard. They walked away without a scratch. My almost two-year-old slept through the whole thing! She only woke up because my 3-year-old was crying (because she was scared, not hurt). My sister and I were in the front seat and we are okay, but very sore, whip lash, etc. I'm amazed that my children aren't even talking about the accident, and they aren't even the slightest bit sore, even though they were a lot closer to the place of impact! My husband and I don't have much money, but car seats were something that we weren't going to skimp on. Now I am so thankful that we did. We will definitely stick with Britax forever.

I did a lot of research on infant and convertible car seats before my daughter was born. We have a small two-door car, so I needed a narrow car seat that wasn't going to take up a huge amount of space. The Chicco Key Fit 30 fit the bill! (Although I did purchase the Extreme pattern, not the Adventure) It is a wonderful car seat, easily comes in and out of our small back seat and my daughter loves it. She is also a tall and slender baby, so the 30" height limit is great, as she would have grown out of other infant car seats already (at 6 months she's 25 inches and just 14 lbs). We were also involved in a car accident just a few weeks ago and the car seat kept my baby amazingly safe. While the rest of us were in pain from the accident, my baby was all smiles. Sadly we have to replace the original seat, but will be buying the exact seat again. If you have a small car and want a well made, safe car seat, the Chicco Key Fit 30 is the one for you!

This seat is so easy to put together, place in the vehicle and strap a child in to, it is definitely worth every penny. Safety ratings on this seat are great. It is also convenient that, when the child is old enough to move on to a booster without a backrest, the backrest is removable.
Our daughter loves the cupholders for snacks and drinks.
She also loves that she can climb in and out of the seat by herself, which is good for her self-confidence as she grows up.
We use this seat between 2 cars and it is easily removed and replaced with a simple slide of the seat belt. The seat is even color-coded to show where the belt should be placed across the shoulder and the waist.
Definitely a great product.

User Review:
I own 2 Britax Frontiers in Pink, and the Graco Nautilus in pink as well. As a Mother who owns both models, I will tell you the major differences between these two seats from my point of view.
#1 Frontier is more expensive (which is why I got the Nautilus for my spare)
#2 Frontier is SO much easier to adjust the shoulder height strap. With a simple squeeze of a lever, the straps go up. The Graco needs to be rethreaded. This is BIG pain when you have another child who wants to use the seat. With the Frontier, it is no biggie to pull the lever.
#3 Frontier seat material is prone to wear where the child's bottom and legs rub on the seat. It also shows WAY more stains and soaks up spills quicker than the Graco.
#4 Frontier has 3 crotch strap adjustments for easy fitting. The Graco only has 2 which makes the older kids sit on the strap. This can get uncomfortable. My oldest DD takes the pad off of the crotch strap on the Frontier (she says it makes the seat look like a "baby seat" with the pad), but she can not do this with the Graco, as the crotch strap rubs on her legs causing red irritation when wearing shorts. The graco pad is very thick and wraps the entire strap (between the legs) and then goes up to sit on the belly. She does not seem to mind sitting on it, but it does not look too comfortable to me.
#5 Padding on Frontier is WAY thicker (on both seat and seat back)and more comfortable to sit on. I can't imagine that the Graco would be comfortable for long trips.
#6 Heads slump forward for younger kids when sleeping in the Graco. The "wings" around the head are very fat (giving the appearance of a "yonger child's seat") and are so close to the child's head that it causes it to go forward when sleeping. The frontier has wider "wings" and are perfect for sleeping children. The "wings" are farther away from the head and are angled just right as to allow sleeping and looking out the window. The "wings" are thinner and have more of a "big" kid look. This thinner look in NO WAY implies that Graco is safer for the thicker "wings", as Britax states that its wings are "true side impact protection". Graco does not state this. The plastic around wings appear to be of stronger material on the Frontier, even though they are thinner. Frontier also has the "hugs" system on the harness to minimize forward head movement. Graco does not.
#7 The Graco has only a 12.5 inch seat width for the child to move around in. The Frontier has a 12.5 seat area around the tush, but opens to a spacious 17 inch wide seat. This may not be an issue for the younger kids, but the older ones need more space. This may, however, be an issue for small cars.
#8 Cup holder and "hidden" storage are neat in the Graco. The Frontier has 2 cup holders, but they can not both be out, as one hits the door when installed on far right or left. The cup holders also do not go smoothly in and out when installed in the vehicle, as the seat blocks the cup holder from retracting. This does not happen when the seat is not snugged down, but when installed..... This is not too much of an issue as we just leave them out. This is only an issue when I have a third child trying to walk to the back 3rd row between 2 Frontiers with cup holders out!

Bottom line. If you need a car seat around the time that Britax has a sale, I would get it over the Graco. The price difference at that time would only be $50. I think that your big kids will be happier in the Frontier. If you have a smaller child, remember, he/she will be a big kid soon!

I purchased this booster for my almost 4 year old son when he hit the 40" limit for his convertible car seat. He is 36 lbs. I researched for hours on the web and decided to try this one. Besides comfort, it was very important for me to have side impact protection. But it was also important to find a booster that worked for sleeping toddlers where his head would not fall forward. We purchased the Graco high back booster for my husband's truck which he rarely rides in. The Graco is VERY flimsy, no side impact protection and his head fell completely forward the one time he did fall asleep in it. When the Compass arrived, I could tell right out of the box how much more substantial it was. The colors are great. We live in Florida and it's NOT black so it doesn't get hot. The side head wings are big but he can still see everything. They are great for resting his head against with lots of padding. The cupholders are great and retractible. We just returned from vacation and he rode happily for 6 hours without a problem each way and he slept comfortably. The seat padding is great and the seat is plenty wide enough. The only thing that was hard was positioning the seat in the center of the back seat of our Pacifica. It worked fine for his seat but because it is so wide, I had trouble buckling my seatbelt next to him because his seat covered my seatbelt latch. It may not be that way on other cars. Still well worth it for his safety to have a little inconvenience. The belt path is fine...no issues with that. I would highly recommend this seat to anyone...it's great! I'm very happy with the purchase and with the fast delivery by Amazon. By the way, no assembly required! I hope this helps other shoppers.

Don't even blink at the price or anything else that really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of life. We were in a freeway rollover accident yesterday in our Honda Pilot that completely totalled the car. My precious 4 year old daughter was all strapped in tight in this carseat and walked away without even a scratch. As soon as I finish up this review, I am buying another one. Seriously, when you are in an accident like that, won't you be glad you put your munchkin in the safest seat possible, even if it can be a pain in the neck to install and annoying to get the cover off to clean? Also should note my 22 month old son was in an Evenflo Triumph (also gets high safety ratings). Thank God he was totally fine, but the strap that attaches the carseat to the anchor in the car literally ripped in half horizontally. It is a miracle that he is okay, because I shudder to think he could have been flopping around with only one anchor attached in addition to the over the seat tether...
